The History
Born as a medieval fort, the Villa kept its medieval structure until the 6th century. It was donated to Bernardino Fortebraccio by the Serenissima and then purchased by the Priuli family, one of Venice’s most illustrious families, in 1536. Thanks to Girolamo Priuli, at the end of the 16th century, Ca’ Priuli was transformed into a Venetian villa with a project made by Scamozzi.
The History
Today
In 2021 the Villa was restored by Crisanti family and brought back to its ancient splendour, continuing to be a symbol of elegance in the landscape of historical Italian residences.
Villa
Attributed to Vincenzo Scamozzi, Ca’ Priuli preserves its original 16th-century austere and functional planimetry. The rooms are decorated with frescoes recalling the different marriages of the descendants of Priuli family. In the Villa, there are also 8 monumental fireplaces, work of Alessandro Vittoria.
Vincenzo Scamozzi Architect
Vincenzo Scamozzi was an important Italian architect of the Renaissance, born in Vicenza in 1548. Scamozzi inherited and re-elaborated the style of master Andrea Palladio. His works are distinguished by the balance of proportions and the elegance of shapes.
